Pseudoverification and Tax-related Comment Codes

We are pleased to announce that VASFAA will be participating in the annual tax training with Robert Weinerman from Iron Bridge Resources. This year’s webinars will be shared with members of other New England financial aid associations.

Please note: This agenda is tentative and subject to change, due to the slow rollout of information about 2025-2026 processing by the Department of Education. Topics may be moved from one webinar to another based on the information available. 

Webinar Description

In the second webinar of this three-part training series, we’ll look at some of the pseudoverification comment codes that are tax related, discuss what they mean, and explore what you’ll need to do if an ISIR contains them. These include comment codes related to the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion and Maximum Pell, high income US tax non-filers, foreign income earners who do not file tax returns, etc. We will also look at when a person is required to file a United States tax return, information necessary to address people who state that they did not file a tax return for reasons other than low income.
